"Camisado" Countdown: Production begins in six weeks
105 people. That's how many actors and crew are now signed on to the "Camisado" project.
A process that began in earnest in January earlier this year is now steamrolling towards production with a cameras-rolling start date of Saturday, January 18th now just a handful of weeks away.
A crew of nearly 20 people and a cast of close to 100 (with some pulling double duty) are gearing up for a two-month-plus shoot, taking place from mid-January through the end of March. Production begins with a nine-day shooting period and will conclude with five two-day shoots on alternating weekends.
"It's been a whirlwind keeping all of this together, to be honest," said director Thomas Gidlow, who along with his wife Samantha, production manager Christina Nelson, location manager Ray Petrolino, associate producer Michelle Lewis, and director of photography Daniel Gidlow, has been working diligently to make the January start date. "But I know seeing everyone on the set will make all of this work worthwhile."
"The people we have on this project are special and I can't wait to show them off in a big way in this series."
"If you don't (pull it off) you look pretty silly"
The filming will be done out of sequence, putting another wrinkle into an already complex shooting schedule. Coordinating the schedules of dozens of people while making sure there is enough time in the day for getting everything shot is definitely a challenge - but one with its own reward.
"If you pull it off, it's quite an accomplishment," continued Gidlow. "If you don't you look pretty silly. So there's an internal incentive to keep on schedule as best as possible. Something will go haywire on a film set. It's how you deal with it that determines how things move forward."
The good news is the cast and crew have been highly supportive of everything to date. They will need to continue that to ensure things remain on target.
"We all need support in life and a film is certainly no different. We all know what this can lead to, so it's on all of us to do everything in our power to make this what it can be. It's just words right now, but we're only a short number of weeks away from putting this into practice."
"It's exhilarating, nerve-racking, and amazing...all rolled into one."
